Project overview

Exterior cushions rebuilt step by step

This Pelican Canvas project documents work on the exterior seating of a Sunseeker 86. The original cushions were taken apart so the old covers could be used to study shape, seams and construction before new pieces were patterned and sewn.

The process includes industrial sewing, foam assembly and final pneumatic installation. The finished result is a coordinated set of clean white exterior cushions made for a large luxury yacht.

What this project shows

Controlled deconstruction

Old covers are removed and opened carefully so the original construction and cushion geometry can be evaluated before new patterns are prepared.

Patterning and sewing

New upholstery pieces are traced, cut and assembled with industrial equipment to keep the panel layout and seams consistent across the set.

Final installation

The completed covers are installed over the cushion assemblies and finished on the yacht so the result can be checked as a complete group.

Planning a yacht upholstery project?

Send the vessel make and model, location, photos of every seating area and a short description of what is worn or what you want changed. For larger projects, include wide photos that show how the areas relate to one another.

Exterior yacht seating

Sunpads, lounges, cockpit seating, helm chairs, bolsters and coordinated cushion sets can be reviewed as one project.

Coordinated restoration

When multiple areas need work, we review foam, panel proportions, color and stitching together instead of treating every cushion as an unrelated repair.
